CPG Key Management Team

CPG's key management team has over 20 years experience in investment banking, infrastructure, real estate and government in both the private and public sectors. Headquartered in Singapore with offices in Beijing, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Sydney - CPG is well serviced to cover the Asian market.

CPG understands the need to combine local knowledge and skills with global expertise - particularly in an emerging market like China where productive relationships with government are essential. For this reason, CPG has a strong team in China based in Beijing and Shanghai.

Our Key Management Team :

Peter Wright - Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Peter founded CPG in 2005 following his successful role at Macquarie Bank Limited. Peter has over 25 years experience in both private and public sectors. Peter was formerly an Executive Director of Macquarie Bank. Macquarie is the biggest non Government infrastructure, road and airport owner in the world with US$200 billion of assets in its specialist funds. In late 2002 Peter founded the Community Partnerships division within Macquarie Bank's Banking Property Group. The mandate for the business was to be an "early mover" in the emerging PPP (public private partnership) market in Australia and select offshore markets. Prior to joining Macquarie, Peter was Asia-Pacific Managing Director for RCI-Cendant - a leading "Fortune 500" Company, one of the world's largest real estate, business services, leisure and tourism groups. He was responsible for Cendant's multitude of brands (including Avis, Budget, Travelodge, Ramada) in Australiasia. Peter was educated in Sydney, completed a Bachelor and a Masters of Commerce Degree at the University of New South Wales, and is a fellow of the Institute of Directors and the Australian Marketing Institute. He was also previously with Restoration Technologies. Technoproduct and Trimex. He is also the co-founder of Phoenix Capital.

Bill Dunbar - Head of Investment Banking and Advisory

Dr Bill Dunbar has almost 20 years of high-level experience working on major infrastructure and real estate projects in both the public and private sectors. He currently heads the Investment Banking and Advisory Group from the CPG Shanghai office and is a member of the CPG Executive Committee. Bill coordinates multiple partnerships with governments, state owned enterprises and private businesses in China. His Group is responsible for transaction analysis and structuring. Prior to CPG, Bill was a Director of Macquarie Community Partnerships where he worked on a number of high profile infrastructure projects including the A$250 million Tasmanian Affordable Housing Strategy and the A$1 billion redevelopment of Townsville waterfront. Bill spent 5 years as the key government executive for infrastructure in the State of New South Wales (Australia) Government which has an annual infrastructure budget in excess of A$6 billion. Bill reformed the policies and systems for government transactions enabling the private sector to finance and build infrastructure projects. This resulted in a wide range of new projects include a complete road expressway system for Sydney, upgrading and sale of Sydney's major international airport for A$6 billion, planning for a new second airport for Sydney, and new port infrastructure in Sydney and Newcastle to handle Australia's growing sea freight traffic. He was also responsible for major real estate and economic development projects involving revitalization of government-owned land as Chairman of the Government Property Panel. Bill's scope of expertise encompasses all major infrastructure and real estate asset classes with specific skills in transport infrastructure, logistics assets, urban development and large industrial and high tech real estate projects.

Steve Newman - Chief Operating Officer

Steve has enjoyed a successful career working in the UK and across Asia Pacific. Steve started his career, as a chartered accountant in the UK, before moving to Melbourne, where he eventually became one of the youngest Partners at Deloitte. Transitioning into the corporate sector, Steve became the CFO and later CEO of a publicly listed, $200 million, global telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Over many years Steve has worked in his own or other's merger acquisition and financial consulting businesses. He was also the CFO of a multi-billion dollar private investment company.

Previously, Steve was the CFO Asia Pacific of Experian. Experian is a global leader in consumer and business credit reporting and marketing services. Experian is part of the UK's FTSE 100 index, with revenues in excess of US$4 billion. Experian has clients in more than 65 countries and employ more than 15,500 people in 38 countries. At Experian, Steve lead the Asia Pacific Finance, Legal, Corporate Development and IT area. He was responsible for all aspects including strategic plans, budgets, mergers and acquisitions, accounting, reporting, audit and information technologies.

For the last 9 years, Steve has lived in Singapore.

ShengQiang Zhou - Chief China Representative

ShengQiang is Beijing-based where he has extensive political and business connections. His role with CPG has produced a pipeline of US$500 million for Infrastructure and Industrial Park Development of the Beijing Economic and Technology Development Area. He has also established strategic alliances with private and public enterprises. Prior to CPG, ShengQiang was with Shanghai General Metal Structuring Engineering as its General Manager Australia. He was involved with the development several industrial projects and the submission to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Green Park Conceptual Plan. ShengQiang attended the University of Sydney with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce and a Masters Degree in Project Management.

Paul Lindholm - Strategic Capital Markets Adviser - Non Executive Director

Paul is a Non-Executive Director of CPG. He maintains a number of advisory roles with government, corporate and high net worth individuals around the world through Phoenix Capital. Prior to co-founding Phoenix Capital Paul was an Executive Director of Merrill Lynch Australia, responsible for Australia and NZ Investment Banking activities (including Mergers Acquisitions, Debt and Equity Origination, Initial Public Offerings, Private Placements, Structured Finance, Corporate Advisory, Leveraged Buy-Outs with Corporations, Governments and High Net worth individuals).

CPG has developed a strong team in China with Chinese nationals with experience in Funds Management, Asset Management and Finance. The team provides CPG with China Investment sourcing capabilities. The key China personnel are detailed below:

Devin Chan - Director of Funds Management

Devin oversees the development of CPG Fund's infrastructure investment capability as its Fund Manager. He is responsible for establishing and implementing the Fund's strategy along with the Fund's performance. Prior to joining CPG Capital Partners Ltd, Devin was the Investment Manager for AMP Capital Investors Ltd's Asian Infrastructure Funds. He was based in Singapore and Beijing where he was responsible for fund raising, identifying and managing infrastructure investments, as well as portfolio management. Devin has been involved in transactions across a range of infrastructure sectors including toll roads, telecommunication, power generation, logistics, port, water and waste management. In his previous roles, Devin also originated, analyzed and negotiated investments in the natural resources mining sector including coal, gold, nickel, iron ore and palm oil.

Dongjie Zhang - Business Development Director, Tianjin

Dongjie is manages the business development for the Tianjin area for CPG. He has been involved in real estate, commercial and cultural industries since 1998 such as Wuhan (East Lake), Jiangsu (Wuxi), Shanghai (Nanhui Villa), Hebei (Qinhuangdao Nandaihe Property Hotel), state-level development zone in Changsha, Hunan, Tianjin MOHO residential and commercial projects. He was previously with Everassion as both Partner and Director and Shangtuo Investment and Development Institution in both Beijing and Tianjin as Director. Dongjie has extensive experience on market positioning and operations of projects.

Jiayong Zhang - Business Development Executive

Jiayong is a Chinese national who is fluent in Mandarin and English. He is based in Beijing and is responsible for managing the regulatory process for the Funds and communicating with PRC Investors. He was previously with Everassion and Beijing Heshenglianyi International Investment Consulting in an investment banking role. His main role was communications and managing the expectations bridging gap between international capital and Chinese enterprises.

Jack FitzGerald - Corporate Development Director

Jack is based in our Singapore office where he is responsible for developing corporate strategy, identifying potential investment partners and supporting the team with deal origination.

Jack graduated from the University of New South Wales with an Arts (Asian Studies)/Law Degree which included studying in Beijing at the Foreign Language University and Yonsei University in Seoul. Following graduation he worked at UNESCO in Seoul and then Paris, before taking up a graduate position with one of Australia’s leading law firms. He then spent 3 years in London at a leading recruitment firm where he was responsible for investment banking clients in the UK, Middle East and Asia.

Qixiang Song - Financial Controller

Qixiang is responsible for the financial models, cash flow projections and all aspects of finance accounting for CPG. She is based in Singapore as corporate team leader and analyst with strong experience in commodities, resources, trading and finance.

She is a Singaporean Chinese who was educated in Australia in Business and a Masters of Applied Finance.

Dan Zuo - Investment Manager

Dan was formerly with AMP Capital Investors based in Sydney where he focused on China and was responsible for deal negotiation, due diligence coordination, financial modelling and investment documentation. He played a key role in the acquisition of an LNG project in southwest China and also worked as part of the unlisted investment specialist team to raise capital from institutional investors for AMP's infrastructure funds in Europe and Australia. Prior to AMP Dan was a Senior Management Accountant at Aristocrat and worked as an accountant at Ernest & Young in Sydney.

Dan holds a Masters in Accounting from Macquarie University and a Diploma of Financial Services from Kaplan Professionals in Sydney. He is also an Australian Certified Public Accountant.

Jay Gu - Investment Manager

Jay is a Chinese national educated in the UK with strong investment banking and government advisory experience. He is a member of the analytic team based in Shanghai and responsible for data collection, deal sourcing and analysing, financial forecasting of the target projects and negotiation with vendors.

Formerly with CITIC (advisory group CEIC) as an investment consultant and project manager who worked on mergers and acquisitions and real estate transactions.

Sisi Song - Analyst

Sisi is responsible for registration of all Government related documentation and analysis of Government policies as they affect CPG. Formerly with Everassion as Analyst.
